Nitsavim - "You are Standing" Deuteronomy 29:10 - 30:20

There are many things upon which I could comment concerning this portion.   Yet, there is a prophecy Mosheh gives that stands out above everything else he says.  I have written many times of the living nature of Father's Torah--how it speaks in relevance to issues in my life at the time of each portion's reading.  This prophecy of Mosheh is no exception to this premise and reached out to grab me by my very heart.  Mosheh says the following.

“The secret matters belong to YHVH our Elohim, but what is revealed belongs to us and to our children forever, to do all the Words of this Torah." Deuteronomy 29: 29

In my many years of studying the Bible, I have often dealt with this idea of "secret matters" by relegating it to "that's for God to know and me not to concern myself about".  As I read Mosheh in this portion, I find nothing could be further from the truth.  Every letter, every word or group of words, has meaning and speaks life to us, or death if we refuse to learn that which is contained in His Word.  Yeshua had the following to say about His Torah, specifically this statement of Mosheh in v. 29.

“For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done."  Matthew 5: 18

The Greek word for "jot" is "iota".  Therefore the simple, on-the-surface meaning we have always been taught conveys an idea of "the smallest thing". However, from a Hebrew point of view concerning this statement of Yeshua, this teaching is proved incorrect.  A"jot" is a series of dots above certain Hebrew letters. Usually, the "jots" are found below each letter--accent marks.

In all of Scripture, there are only four times where these "jots" appear above specific words or a series of words.  With the meticulous placing of these particular "jots", the Scribes forever linked each of these four instances together to present a prophetic picture of the true Gospel story, a story so skewed by Christian teachers of today because they reject Mosheh and the Torah he taught.

The first instance of these "jots" is found in Genesis 33: 4 above each letter of the phrase,"and he kissed him".  This is a story about the conflict between Jacob and Esau--how Esau hated his brother, wanted desperately to kill him, and take away his blessing.  It's a story that is prophetic for us in this generation.  The descendants of Esau are alive and well today and making their last, best attempt to take away the blessing of Jacob.  Trust me, my friends.  They don't want a two state solution.  Forget about the 1967 lines. They don't want Jacob (Israel) to live (exist)--the pre-1947 lines.

The second instance is found in Genesis 37: 12 above "father's flock".  It is curious to note most Biblical renderings of this verse fail to capitalize the letter "f" in "father's". How unfortunate, because the Hebrew clearly places "Alef-Tav" at the beginning of the phrase, "Father's flock".  Joseph is a foreshadowing of Messiah.  In portraying Joseph going to check on the welfare of his brothers, Mosheh prophetically pictures Messiah providing our redemption and keeping an ever constant watch over His chosen remnant.

The third instance is found in Numbers 3: 39 over the name of Aaron.  This is a story of the first born.  Rather than the first born of all Israel, YHVH took the tribe of Levi to Himself.  In this choosing, Aaron stood in the place of all first born.  In this, I am reminded how it is written that Yeshua our Messiah became the "First Born of many".  In the place of Aaron, He became our High Priest.  He became the ultimate sacrifice, making us His chosen and adopted sons and daughters.

The fourth instance is in Deuteronomy 29: 29 of this portion.  The "jots" are placed over the phrase "to our children forever".  As the children of Israel were preparing to cross over Jordan to claim the Promised Land, His chosen remnant of our generation is preparing to return to the same land in what Jeremiah characterizes as the "Greater Exodus".

“Therefore, see, the days are coming, declares YHVH; when they shall say no more, as YHVH lives who brought up the children of Y'Israel out of the land of Mitsrayim, but, as YHVH lives who brought up and led the seed of the house of Y'Israel out of the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them.  And they shall dwell on their own soil.”  Jeremiah 23: 7-8

His remnant has been redeemed and chosen, even from before the foundation of the world, to be adopted into the family of YHVH.  He ever looks out for our welfare and guides our paths.  We stand in the midst of this last generation battle between the sons of Jacob and Esau known as "Jacob's trouble" and make preparations for our part in this"Greater Exodus".

This prophetic quartet of Mosheh has been presented and subsequently stood for over three thousand years, gloriously revealing its "secret matters" to our final generation.  Soon, it will be OUR turn to cross over into the Promised Land.  The question begged is,"Will we be ready when that time comes?"  If so, then we will be found of Messiah fervently honoring the final words of Mosheh in this portion.

The teaching of Mosheh throughout Torah is summed up in these final two verses--love YHVH, KEEP TORAH, and cling only to YHVH.  For your eternal encouragement, I echo his words.  Choose YHVH's blessings and life.  Do what it takes to join the remnant in Israel.  It is our inheritance as remnant "overcomers" in the faith.

“I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed, to love YHVH your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him--for He is your life and the length of your days--to dwell in the land which YHVH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30: 19-20
